Overview
Courses
Our program curriculum focuses on project-based learning and hands-on experience. Study topics such as construction materials and methods, concrete and masonry, materials testing and inspection, soil study and analysis, construction law and ethics, surveying and cost estimating.
The program culminates in a capstone project, which is defined by local construction companies and provides possibilities for future full-time employment.
Learning Outcomes
Our undergraduate degree program focuses on developing knowledge and skills that are valued by commercial, residential, industrial and heavy civil sectors of the construction industry. These include construction materials and methods, structural systems, soils and site development, surveying, computer-aided design, contract administration, codes, plans and specifications, planning and estimating, scheduling and evaluating project performance. You’ll learn to use cutting-edge tools such as Autodesk Revit, which is used in Building Information Modeling (BIM), a process for generating and managing digital data through physical and functional characteristics.
With a construction science and management bachelor’s degree, most of our graduates enter the workforce in technical or managerial roles, such as assistant construction superintendent, construction safety manager or construction cost estimator. Other jobs you may be qualified for include project manager, executive construction manager or field engineer. You may also be interested in earning a MS in Quality Engineering and Management, which will open even more doors for you in the industry or help pave the way for you to enter the teaching field.
Career Outcomes
Approximately 98% of construction science and management majors are employed in the construction industry, landing jobs with some of the area’s leading contractors such as Manhattan Construction, MYCON General Contractors, M&W Builders, The Brandt Company and D.R. Horton Home Builders.
