You can gain real experience in this degree program by joining the Math Club or taking advantage of an internship opportunity. These opportunities, among others, will enable you to obtain hands-on experience through direct participation in the Mathematics field. The university also provide a tutoring service Supplemental Instruction (SI), which is designed to support student learning experience through peer-assisted study sessions.
The Math Clinic
The Math Clinic is a free tutoring service provide by the Mathematics Department, and is located in The Mathematics Building, Room 203. Our tutors are either graduate teaching assistants or undergraduate students that have a strong mathematics background. There are 2 computers available for students who have online math homework and need a quiet place to work. Students are welcome to complete homework assignments in the Math Clinic, and will have tutors at their disposal for any questions or concerns.
Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions are designed to support student learning through peer-assisted study sessions. These free sessions are facilitated by students who have been successful in math courses. SI sessions will:
Integrate the processes of mathematic equations with what you're learning
Incorporate concrete study skills
Provide peer support
Reinforce classroom instruction
Math Club
The Math Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month at noon, and students are able to meet like-minded peers, eat lunch, as well as learn from Mathematics faculty members. We discuss the following topics in our meetings:
